UFC fighter, Conor McGregor, made quite the statement via a recent Instagram story – boasting a $1.5 million diamond-studded watch.
Despite the hefty price tag, fans have been quick to stamp the watch as distasteful.

About the $1.5 million watch
McGregor is no stranger to watch culture – often flexing time-pieces from luxury brands, such as Rolex. Though, his latest addition to his collection has got the internet talking.
The $1.5 million purchase features two blue-tinted swans, alongside an erotic moving element – seeing two intimate people. The diamond-studded watch was shown on McGregor’s wrist on a recent Instagram story.

Reportedly, McGregor is a huge Rolex fan but is also often seen sporting Patek Philippe.
Notably, the fighter was gifted a Jacob & Co. Astronomia Gambler watch for his 32nd birthday – the same watch is also worn by artist Drake. The Astronomia Gambler is worth a whopping £500k.
On the slightly lower end of prices in McGregor’s luxury watch collection, he’s also known to wear a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, which is gold-plated and worth an estimated £26k.
It’s reported that Conor owns at least 7 Rolex watches – that’s without the rest of his time-piece collection.

Twitter users react to the diamond bling
Following McGregor’s diamond watch debut, fans have taken to social media to have their opinion – and not everyone approves.
Upon seeing the watch, one Redditor wrote: “Money can’t buy good taste….just make it more flagrant and stupid looking.”
Whereas, another Reddit user came to McGregor’s defense, adding: “Yes, but this is very “on-brand” for him. He knows the kind of people who like him and he is catering to their sensibilities. I think if I were making as much as him, and knowing that popularity as much as my capacity as a fighter were parts of that equation I would do something similar.”
Twitter users also jumped at the chance to comment, with many dubbing it as “tacky”: “That watch is beyond tacky, it literally looks like something you can find in a cereal box.”
