Could I just clarify the timeframe regarding the pizza worker? When did you find out or when were you told on Monday night that there was concerns about transmission from a pizza box, and then when was the decision made the next morning to effectively recommend the state go into lockdown?
So, on Tuesday night, I get results emailed to me, the new case came through and in fact during the day, that was the case that I had been told about in the Stamford hotel. Now, the case in the Stamford hotel was really concerning.
Because it was either another breach of our many hotels, or, you know, another transmission in our many hotels, or they were somehow related to the Peppers hotel. But my start had not been able to connect those two. And then I got this second case to relate in the evening.
And I made contact with our communicable disease control branch, and they were saying, this helps us make the link between the pizza bar, which I had not been aware of. So I was told that this person was the delivery driver, and therefore, I was told this person had ordered a pizza. Subsequently, but not material at all to my decision-making, was that I was then told he had actually gone and got the pizza, which we have not subsequently found was not correct.
However, what was in my mind was that we had transmission to a member of the public not just a close contact, not just a work colleague, where you would expect of course, if you are working in a hot pizza kitchen, that you could get transmission.
But that somebody was there for a short period of time to either pick up the pizza or have the pizza delivered, and if that was the case, we had 10 days when we had infectious staff working and we had lots of people that could have come through that pizza bar.
