London will move into tier two at 00.01am on Saturday, meaning a ban on mixing indoors.

Joining London in the move to tier two are Barrow-in-Furness, Elmbridge, York, north-east Derbyshire, Erewash and Chesterfield.

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson is reportedly set to plunge Greater Manchester into a tier three lockdown today, without the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham’s apporval.

Andy Burham has been vocal in his dissaproval of harsher restrictions being imposed on Manchester, which would see more venue closures.

The news comes as a further 138 people died with coronavirus and a further 18,890 positive tests has also been reported yesterday.

This brings the UK’s death toll to 43,293, and the total number of cases to 673,622.
