The new tier system will come into force in England on December 2 after lockdown ends, and with it a stricter set of rules.
Under the revised three-tier system, London and Liverpool will face tier two restrictions, which prohibit any socialising indoors, and see the closure of pubs, unless they can operate as a restaurant.
More than 55 million people will be placed into tier two and tier three measures from next week, meaning 99% of England will face tougher restrictions than before.
Meanwhile, a further 498 people have died with coronavirus in the UK, while another 17,556 have tested positive for the virus.
