Plot
The third season picks up six months after the events of Season 2. Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee, played by Kiowa Gordon, are once again at the center of a new investigation. They try to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of two boys. The only clues left behind are an abandoned bicycle and a patch of ground stained with blood.
Meanwhile, Bernadette Manuelito, portrayed by Jessica Matten, has started a new job with the Border Patrol, located 500 miles from her hometown. She stumbles upon a dangerous conspiracy involving human trafficking and drug smuggling, threatening to impact a larger part of the country.

The third season brings a new set of guest stars to Dark Winds. Jenna Elfman plays FBI Special Agent Sylvia Washington, while Bruce Greenwood stars as Tom Spenser. Terry Serpico portrays Ed Henry, and Derek Hinkey is cast as Shorty Bowlegs. A.
