During the first application window for Pennsylvania’s Solar for Schools grant program, demand was through the roof(top solar)! All told, there were 88 applications for a total of $88,087,000 – triple the available funding.
As these grants are rolled out, they will boost renewable energy in Pennsylvania, save schools money, and help protect our environment.
Right now, Governor Shapiro has proposed $25 million for the program in this year’s budget. With all of the demand so far and all of the potential for Pennsylvania schools to go solar, we encourage the legislature to fully fund the solar for schools grant program this session and moving forward.
