Bungie has warned players not to create a new character in Destiny 2 while the shared-world shooter’s Solstice of Heroes event is active.
Unfortunately, a bug is currently doing the rounds that removes any Solstice Package and Key Fragments when you create a new Guardian. As such, the former Halo developer has advised folk not to risk creating a new character while the event live, at least not if you have any related items in your inventory.
Investigations have found that creating new characters while Solstice of Heroes is live will remove any Solstice Package and Key Fragments.
It’s recommended to not create new characters if you have any Solstice items in your inventory while the Solstice event is active.

It just so happens that a new Destiny 2 update is coming out tomorrow, so hopefully Bungie will have patched out the issue by then.

Bungie is celebrating its 30th anniversary soon and there’s rumors that it may incorporate some Halo elements into Destiny 2, probably in the shape of some cheeky Easter eggs.
Destiny 2 was released in September 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One, and was later released for the PC. The game also received PS5 and Xbox Series X/D versions featuring various performance improvements, and Bungie is continuing to keep the game updated with robust post-launch support.
Bungie will be hosting a Destiny 2 showcase on August 24, 2021, so expect more details on future content to drop during this event.
