Hospitals across the nation are dealing with shortages.
VICTORIA, Texas – Hospitals across the country are dealing with shortages.
Recently, Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales asked nurses in the area to return to work amid a COVID surge.
25 News Now reached out to DeTar Healthcare System for an update on staffing shortages.
DeTar Healthcare System said they have experienced increased admissions of COVID positive patients and staffing challenges.
A news release was issued:
Like many areas of the country, sea Healthcare System is seeing an increase in admissions of COVID-positive patients and challenges with staffing. Our team has adapted regularly based on what we have learned during the pandemic and we are actively hiring for new nurses on our team. We speak with the South Texas Regional Advisory Council regularly about resources available in our community including supplies and caregivers.
Our staff continues to rise to meet the need and we are tremendously proud of them. They remain committed to providing the best care possible, and it shows in the way they care for our patients and their families. Our emergency room is prepared to provide care for all patients who need medical attention and patients experiencing a medical emergency are encouraged to seek care promptly.
We encourage everyone to get the COVID-19 vaccination as soon as you can. Vaccines remain the best strategy for reducing the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
25 News Now requested an interview, but a spokesperson said no one was able to participate in an interview.
