Fans across the world are mourning the loss of Jim Steinman, the famed musician and record producer. Jim passed away on Monday, April 19 in Connecticut. The American musician was 73.

According to ABC, in 2012 when Steinman was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Meat Loaf had said “I can never repay him”. Meat Loaf went on to say that Jim was the biggest influence in his life.
According to Variety, it was Jim who had composed Meat Loaf’s debut album Bat Out of Hell in 1977. The album went on to become one of the best-selling albums of all time and sold 50 million copies worldwide. The duo collaborated again on the 1981 album Dead Ringer.
Jim also served as the composer/producer on the singer’s 1993 album Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell. However, their most recent collaboration came in the 2016 album Braver Than We Are.

Jim’s cause of death is unclear at the moment. The New York Times revealed that it was his longtime manager, David Sonenberg, who announced the musician’s death. David also revealed that Jim had suffered a stroke four years ago and his health had recently been declining.
