Dubai Princess Sheikha Mahra Mohammed Rashed al-Maktoum, 31, who announced her shock divorce from her previous marriage last year, has recently gotten engaged to rapper French Montana.
The rapper, born Karim Kharbouch, was initially linked to the princess in October last year, after she publicly announced her divorce in July.
According to reports, Montana’s publicist confirmed their engagement, which took place in June, and stated that the pair are “excited about their future together.”
Although an official wedding date has not yet been announced, sources close to the couple say their families are “delighted” and that wedding preparations are underway.
The princess has since posted a photo on Instagram sharing her engagement ring.
The couple has been spotted several times together over the last year, most notably at Paris Fashion Week, where Montana made a debut appearance as a model.
They have since been seen together around the world, including in Paris and in Morocco, where the rapper was born.
The princess was previously married to Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana al Maktoum, and sparked a mixed response from fans when she announced she was launching a perfume titled “Divorce”.
In the now-deleted Instagram post, she accused her former husband of being unfaithful, writing: “As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife”.
She is a international relations graduate from a London university and has one daughter from her previous marriage.
Montana was previously married to a designer and entrepreneur named Nadeen Kharbouch, and has a 16-year-old son named Kruz Kharbouch.
