Christmas is just a month away and many Brits are decorating early to spread some festive cheer.
If you’re looking to spruce up your home for December 25 then you might be looking to add some more decorations to your collections.
Unfortunately, they can be super expensive!
Luckily, it turns out you can create your own stunning festive decor at home for a few quid.
DIY-queen and interiors lover, Mel Grimes, has shared with the Daily Star her method for making her own pretty Christmas pieces at home.
Have you made your own decorations? Tell us how in the comments…
Mel posts all of her gorgeous DIY tricks on her Instagram page, @mels_marble_home.
You can also follow her instructions to create your own.
She explained: “The lidded jar is £1.49 from Home Bargains and I use bath salts instead of fake snow, because it can be reused and makes the room smell nice too.
“I bought some crystal drawer knobs and glued one on top and it makes a perfect accessory.
“This can be used for other things too like wax melts or tea lights.
“I also use the bath salts to make other Christmas scenes.”
Using the bath salts as faux snow means you can fill any clear container up and balance small decorations inside to create tiny, snowy worlds.
Mel added: “To make the garland I just buy a plain white garland and then add organza, lights, baubles and other Christmas decor so it is unique to my own taste.
“It costs half the price of a ready made one!”
You could do the same with any colour – if you like red or bronze try adding pine cones or dried orange slices.
For blue garlands, try adding crystals to look like icicles.
Mel continued: “The penguin baubles are empty lidded baubles and I add fairy lights and pieces of feather boa to hide the battery pack and to create a snowy effect.
“Then I add in the penguin Christmas tree ornaments.”
These DIY creations are the perfect way to add glam to your festive decor without breaking the bank.
Some can even be a fun activity to do with the kids – just make sure to keep an eye on them around the bath salts.
