DJ Khaled is such a good friend that he likes to buy his people random gifts – but a gift he had for J Balvin didn’t quite go the way he hoped it would.
The Colombian-bred singer visited the Hot Boxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast this week, where he revealed how America’s obsession with Pablo Escobar led to an awkward moment with the Miami producer.
“One day DJ Khaled called me while I was doing an interview,” J Balvin began. “He was like, ‘Wait wait, I got a gift for you!’ He brought a huge picture of Pablo Escobar. I was like, ‘Listen. Take that shit back there because we don’t give a fuck about that guy here!’”

DJ Khaled isn’t the only one doing the gift-giving, however. The We The Best mogul was recently given a luxury golf cart by Diddy, which he showed off on Instagram.
“Thank you @diddy love brother beautiful gift!!!!!!!” he wrote in the post’s caption in April. “Grateful ! #LetsGoGolfing.”
In a separate post, Diddy praised Khaled on his golf game, as well as explaining his reasoning behind the gift.”I’m so proud of my brother @DJKhaled for all the work he’s putting in on the golf course,” he wrote. “Enjoy my gift to you! I had to find the flyest of the fly for my brother! This ain’t no regular degular golf cart!”
Last month, the GOD DID producer teased a new television show focused on golf with help from Diddy and actor Mark Wahlberg. In a series of videos posted on Instagram, Khaled was spotted with Puff playing a round of golf.
In one clip, Khaled takes a big swing as The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy” plays in the background, while Diddy enthusiastically bigs up the Miami mogul’s golf game. In another video, the Bad Boy boss reveals they’ve already shot the pilot episode of Khaled’s new golf show, and that there’s a bidding war for the rights to the series.
In addition to getting Puff’s support, Khaled shared another post of him on a FaceTime call with Mark Wahlberg to discuss the venture.
“LETS GO GOLFING TV SHOW it’s in works. my team said KHALED it’s biding war for the show,” Khaled wrote on Instagram. “I WIILL TAKE YOU IN THE WORLD OF GOLF FROM MY VIEW AND HOW WE DO, AND THEN ITS GETS EVEN MORE AMZING ON THE SHOW TO SEE WHAT HAPPMS AFTER WE PLAY GOLF!”
He added: “BE BE READY ! #LETSGOGOLFING @wethebest FILMS @markwahlberg let’s pick the best network that sees the VISION!”
