Last week’s long-awaited Harry Potter reunion has reignited many people’s love for the franchise.
Seeing the cast meet up to celebrate the ten year anniversary of the first film was everything we could have asked for.
Following Harry Potter: Return To Hogwarts, fans have discovered something very exciting you can do with your phone.
Using Siri, you can cast spells like “Lumos”, “Accio” and “Wingardium Leviosa” to make your phone do various things.
The feature has actually existed since 2016, but does it work on Google Assistant too?

Does it work on Google Assistant?
Yes! If you’re a Google Assistant user, you can cast Harry Potter spells just the same as iPhone users.
Google Assistant is essentially Android’s version of Siri, and if you haven’t got it already, it can be easily installed by following these steps.
Once set up, just say “Hey Google” followed by the spell to watch the magic happen.
The spells also work on Google Home too, which is Google’s version of Amazon Alexa.
How to cast Harry Potter spells
There are a number of different Harry Potter spells that iPhone and Android users can cast on their phones.
Just say “Hey Google” or “Hey Siri” followed by the words below to cast them.
The most popular is “Lumos” which will turn on your phone’s torch. In the films, the spell is used to illuminate a room.
To turn the torch off, you can then say “Nox” which is the spell used to extinguish light in the franchise.
Another spell is the summoning charm “Accio” which will open a specific app. Just say “Accio Facebook” or “Accio Instagram” for example.
Using the unforgivable curse “Avada Kedavra” will ‘kill’ your phone by turning the brightness down and activating airplane mode.
Finally, saying the spell which makes things fly, “Wingardium Leviosa” will bring up a flight from your location to a random destination.

“Lumos” works on Google Home too
If you’ve got your Google Home linked up to all the lights in your house, you’re in for a real treat.
Say the spell “Lumos Maximus” and all the lights in your house will turn on. Yes, really!
Then, say “Nox” and they’ll all turn off again. Now you’ll never use a light switch again!
