Yes, Elon Musk has Aspergers Syndrome.
During his opening monologue on SNL Elon introduced viewers to his mum, Maye, cracked a load of jokes and also revealed that he has Aspergers.
According to WebMD: “Today, Asperger’s syndrome is technically no longer a diagnosis on its own. It is now part of a broader category called autism spectrum disorder“.
Is Elon the first person with Aspergers to host SNL?
During Elon Musk’s SNL appearance, he said that he was the first person with Aspergers to host the show: “I’m actually making history tonight as the first person with Aspergers to host SNL – or at least the first to admit it. So I won’t make a lot of eye contact with the cast tonight“.
He also said: “I don’t always have a lot of intonation or variation in how I speak which I’m told makes for great comedy“.
Elon isn’t the first person with Aspergers to host the show, Dan Aykroyd hosted the show in 2003 as per IMDb.
However, Elon’s SNL monologue looks to be the first time he’s spoken publicly about having Aspergers.

Elon hasn’t disclosed much information on his Aspergers diagnosis apart from stating that he does have it.
According to Healthline: “Genetic factors and exposure to environmental toxins, such as chemicals or viruses, have been identified as potential contributors to the development of the disorder“.
Elon’s more introverted demeanour was said to worry his parents, Errol and Maye, when he was younger. They took him to a doctor who suggested that he could be deaf. Elon had his adenoid glands surgically removed in a bid to restore his hearing.
It may have been Aspergers Syndrome that caused Elon to have a more introverted personality. Everyday Health writes that symptoms of Aspergers are: “Problems making or maintaining friendships, isolation or minimal interaction in social situations, poor eye contact or the tendency to stare at others, trouble interpreting gestures, inability to recognize humor, irony, and sarcasm“.
