Dog Tied To A Pole & Left To Die Reaches Paw Out To Officer For Help
Liam’s story leaves all animal lovers wondering why. Why would anyone purposely hurt a dog? Of course, there’s no good explanation for it, and it feels impossible to forgive someone for such a cruel act.
The malnourished Pit Bull named Liam was tied so tightly to a pole that he couldn’t move. When an officer came to save him, he extended his paw as a plea for help. While the person responsible for Liam’s misfortune hasn’t been found, Liam is safe and sound. After receiving lots of love and care, he finally found a family to give him a second chance at life.
One Final Plea for Help
Officer Angela Laurella from Broward Sheriff’s Office in Florida responded to a call about an abandoned and malnourished dog. When she arrived at the scene, she saw a small Pit Bull tied so tightly around a pole that his movements were restricted. Instead of trying to squirm away in fear, he recognized that Laurella was there to help.
When Laurella approached the Pit Bull, who was later named Liam, he extended his paw to her. He looked heartbroken, but this was his last attempt at escaping. The officer saved the pup with no issues due to his unexplainable trust in her. Then, 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida took him into their care.
“She just walked toward him very slowly and reached out her hand, and he kind of cowered and gave her his paw, as if to say, ‘Please help get me out of here,’” said Amy Roman of 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida.
During Liam’s rescue, Laurella fed him some food to gain his trust even further. Liam didn’t have a microchip, and there were no leads to help officials find his previous owner.
Love for Liam
The rescue determined that Liam is about four years old, and despite his rough history, he’s very loving. His past neglect has taken a toll on his current health, but volunteers did everything they could to help him heal and feel comfortable again.
“Emaciated. Every bone and rib protruding. His eyes sunken into his body for being so malnourished. Definitely abused,” said Roman.
Not long after Liam healed, he went up for adoption and found his forever family. He was adopted by two members of the Broward Sheriff’s Office, who are prepared to give him endless love. 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida said that Liam is ecstatic to be in his new home, and he loves running up and down the stairs.
Everyone hopes that one day Liam can get the justice he deserves, but that’s not their biggest concern right now. Currently, what matters most is helping Liam stay healthy and happy with his forever family.
