A quarter of Australian women suffered domestic violence for the first time during the pandemic, according to a new study.
The Australian Institute of Criminology discovered out of 15,000 women, 32 per cent suffered some sort of abuse.
The study also found 42 per cent of women who experienced physical violence before the pandemic – reported it became worse during COVID.
Counselling services confirmed they are expecting violence to rise in coming months.
