DROGHEDA UNITED have snapped up striker Ronan Murray.
Murray, 28, revealed Drogheda boss Tim Clancy got in touch after he scored for St Pat’s as a trialist in a friendly win over Cork City on Sunday.
Murray said: “Tim got on the phone to see if I would be interested and I said I would. It was as simple as that really, I was delighted to get the call.”
The Mayo man has had stints with Galway United, Dundalk and Sligo Rovers after breaking through at Ipswich Town during Roy Keane’s time in charge.
Murray – who spent the past two seasons with Sligo Rovers – scored for St Pat’s as a trialist against Cork City on Sunday but he has now agreed to sign for the newly-promoted side.
After the captures of Dinny Corcoran, Gary Deegan and Dane Massey, the ex-Ireland under-21 international is the latest experienced addition to the First Division title-winners.
Murray said: “The main targets would be to establish a good starting 11 that competes every week, has a system of play that works.
“That comes down to Tim and I’ve full faith he will do that and establish ourselves in the Premier Division and then you can build on that for the following season.
“The goals for me personally are to get back on the pitch, playing and getting minutes under my belt, in pre-season first of all. Then when the season starts, to fight for my place in the starting team and get wins on the pitch.”
