Synopsis: A low-pressure storm will move across the southeastern portion of the country on Sunday while system development travels west to east across the United States on Monday.  Sunday could see some spots below freezing overnight, but a warming trend is set to kick off the work week.

In the long term for the extended period, days 3 to 7, Monday night through Saturday, storm energy will push through the area on Monday night but due to low moisture values (< 0.5″) the impact to the region will be very minimal if any in terms of the area staying dry.

Beginning Tuesday, airflow will move west to east, but in the higher levels (850 mb/5,000 feet with temperatures around 65-67 degrees) warm air will push in from the southwest.  Temperature’s area wide on Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the 70’s and 80’s.

The weather changes abruptly on Wednesday night into Thursday as a cold front push down dragging cold air into South Texas.  Moisture levels will still be limited as the front pushes into the area, but there could be a few showers along the front.

Thursday through Friday we will keep rain in the forecast as colder air gets under neath the warmer air and lifts it up into lower air pressure.  This could cause cloud and rain development.  This will be confined mostly to coastal locations and out over the ocean.

Wednesday night into Thursday’s cold front will keep temperatures in the 50’s for highs on Thursday (lows in the 40’s).  Possible drizzle, combined with strong winds out of the north, will make weather very un-tolerable without appropriate clothing such as a sweater, jacket, hat, and gloves.

Winds will weaken Thursday night as temperatures drop down into the 30’s (a few spots at freezing or below).  Some spots were the drizzle takes place could be frozen precipitation (snow) if the timing is right.  This will be in the northern portion of the viewing area if possible.

Rain/snow chances should end by Friday afternoon while rain chances linger Saturday along the coast and over the open water.  Friday and Saturday stay cold with high temperatures in the 50’s while freezing temperatures could show up again on Friday night/Saturday morning.
