Many people use TikTok as a platform to expose members of the public who they have filmed doing something wrong.
Whether it’s a ‘Karen’ in your local Walmart, a rude employee at McDonald’s or an argumentative neighbour, TikTok is the place to find it.
This week, a TikTok user has gone viral after she exposed a number of transphobic employees at the fast-food drive-thru Sonic.

TikTok user exposes transphobic Sonic employee
Eden Torres, a latina transgender woman, took to TikTok this week to share the transphobia she recently faced at a Sonic drive-thru.
In the series of clips that have had over three million views in total, Eden is filming one of the fast-food chain’s employees through her window.
She tells the employee that felt “discriminated against” as all of the staff had been calling her “sir” after seeing her masculine name on her credit card when she actually identifies as a woman.
The man briefly apologises, but claims it isn’t the staff’s fault for seeing the name on the card and assuming her gender.
She then asks the man to look at her and says: “What about me is presenting what you would call masculine right now?”
“I would like you to promise me to stop treating trans people this way,” she continues whilst the staff member denies being transphobic.
“Have you got a feminine name? No. Then they’re not discriminating,” he says.
“What are you? It doesn’t matter to you. To me, I’m a male. Okay. So, what are you so I can call you sit or ma’am. What are you?” the Sonic employee then says to which she asks: “What would you assume by looking at me?”
He then says “I assume that you are a man” and Eden turns the camera around and shows herself.
“Trans people deal with discrimination every day. Today this happened to me. The staff saw my name on my cc and chose to be aggressively transphobic,” Eden wrote on the screen.
TikTok users reacts to the video
TikTok users have been reacting to Eden’s discriminatory experience in the comments.
“Someone at Sonic needs to be FIRED. Today,” one person wrote.
Another said: “That man oozes ignorance. He was doing this on purpose. He really thought he was doing something.”
Others are claiming that the man did nothing wrong and was simply asking what her pronouns were and trying to resolve the situation.
One person wrote: “He did nothing wrong. All he wanted was clarification. You could’ve simply told him, I’d like to be referred as _____ and that’s it!”
In the comments, Eden then clarified that she did not feel discriminated by the man’s actions in the video and said:
“The only reason I was discriminated against is because they saw the name on my cc and made a conscious choice to call me sir. It was transphobic discrimination.”
