The Egyptian national football team, led by coach Hossam Hassan, secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cupthis evening, Wednesday, marking the fourth time in the history of the Pharaohs.
Egypt defeated host Djibouti three goals to nil in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for the tournament scheduled to be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The match between Djibouti and Egypt, part of the ninth fixture of the first round of qualifiers, was held at the Arab Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.
Ibrahim Adel scored Egypt’s first goal in the eighth minute following a precise cross from Ahmed Sayed Zizo. Mohamed Salah then added the Pharaohs’ second goal in the fourteenth minute after a crucial pass from Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet.
Mohamed Salah sealed Egypt’s victory with the third goal in the 84th minute, assisted by a superb pass from Marwan Attia.
With this victory, the Egyptian national team cemented its position atop the Group A standings with 23 points, compiled from seven wins and two draws, officially securing their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.
