AN ELLESMERE business has been recognised for its exponential growth after it was given a national award for its work.
The Shropshire Distillery, based in Eastwick Lane in Ellesmere, has been crowned the UK New Distillery Business of the Year for the national round of the Prestige Awards for 2021/22.
Emma and Gareth Glynn, the couple behind the family-run business, were given a bonus after their application was only initially for the central England category.
However, the judges were so impressed by the distillery’s passion, ethical and sustainable practices, glowing reviews and how the gin school exceeds visitor’s expectations, that their application was put forward for the national award, to be collected at an event in May.
Emma admitted she and her husband were incredibly proud of their achievements.
“After just four years it is incredible to say we are multi-award winning on a national scale,” said Emma.
“I believe our glowing five star reviews for the gin school clinched the award for us.
“We are very proud of the products and experiences we have created here in Shropshire.”
The business has also announced they will be sponsoring the chef talks and demonstrations stage at the Shrewsbury Food Festival for the second year running, on Saturday and Sunday June 25-26.
The popular tent hosts a stellar line-up of chef talent, where the audience can see first-hand how showstopping dishes are created.
The distillery will be running a gin and cocktail bar at the festival, alongside hundreds of independent stallholders and street food vendors.
The Shrewsbury Food Festival will take place at the Quarry in the centre of town.
Emma added that sponsoring the tent is something they are pleased to do.
Sher added: “We’re looking forward to being a big part of the Shrewsbury Food Festival again this year.
“It has become the premier event for celebrating independent food and drink businesses from the region, and we’re thrilled to be part of it.
“It’s great to put our stamp on the chef talks and demonstration stage, where the best biggest chef names will be at the event.
“We look forward to serving up our locally produced handcrafted spirits at the festival this June.”
