Austin businessman Erik Charles Maund is one of four men in custody in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire plot, as per a report by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
A three-count federal indictment charges Erik Charles Maund, 46; Gilad Peled, 47; Bryon Brockway, 46, all of Austin, Texas; and Adam Carey, 30, of Richlands, North Carolina, with conspiracy to commit kidnapping, kidnapping resulting in death, and carrying, brandishing and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, as per the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department press release.
As reported by Austin American-Statesman and according to investigators, Maund allegedly hired three military and security experts to shoot Holly Williams, 33, and William Lanway, 36, both of Nashville, Texas.
According to the indictment, Maund had a prior relationship with Williams but, after his visit to her in Nashville on 1 March 2020, he received text messages from Lanway, who had a romantic relationship with Williams.
The report alleges Lanway demanded payment from Maund not to expose his relationship with Williams but Maund enlisted Peled, Brockway and Carey to deal with the extortion demands.

Erik Charles Maund’s charges explained
Austin businessman Erik Charles Maund has been arrested and indicted following the deaths of 33-year-old Holly Williams and her 36-year-old partner William Lanway.
As per previous reports, they were found dead in a white 2005 Acura at a construction site in Nashville in March 2020.
Maund and three other men have been charged with “conspiracy to commit kidnapping, kidnapping resulting in death, and carrying, brandishing, and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence”, as per a Metropolitan Nashville Police Department press release.
The other three men are said to be former members of the military who worked with private security companies.
Chief John Drake said in the report: “This investigation began with the discovery of two bodies inside a vehicle on Good Friday 2020.
“Outstanding investigative work, led by detectives Patrick Cuthbertson and David Willover, led to multiple leads that drew our attention to other states.
“Realising this very complex case reached far outside of Nashville, our team enlisted the help of the FBI and the US Attorney’s Office. Our close relationship with our federal partners led to the indictment and arrest of the four individuals.”

Wife and family business
Maund’s wife is Sheri Maund and the couple are believed to have one son. However, other information about his family is not available at the time of writing due to privacy matters as the investigation continues.
Maund is the grandson of Charles Maund, founder of Maund Automotive Group, and serves as a partner in the company.

Maund family loves and supports him
Maund’s attorneys released a statement (via KVUE) on behalf of his family.
It read: “We have spoken to Mr Maund only briefly on the matter. We will understand more in the coming days and weeks. The entire Maund family loves and supports their son.”
HITC would like to point out the federal indictment of all four men is an accusation. The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
