Esports is blowing up in popularity and anytime the mainstream gets hold of something, there will be a debate that leads to a friendly wager or two. Well, esports is no different and if you are going to take the plunge then make sure to do so wisely. Below are several critical pieces of advice if you are new to betting esports, or any other event for that matter. Let’s check out our Fab 4 golden rules.
- Money Management – Set aside a bankroll that you can afford to lose. That doesn’t mean you will lose it but it is a safety barrier in case you do. Make sure that the amount, if lost, will not cause you any sleepless nights. Esports is fun, so make sure betting it is too.
- Do your Homework – It’s much easier to gain access to professional gamers than it is to professional athletes. Oftentimes you can catch them live streaming and showing off their gaming chops. Check out these sessions and make notes because when it comes time to bet it is good to know who you are betting on rather than just reading about their past events. Also, be aware of last-minute roster changes to the lineup.
- Bet With Your Head Not Over It – Every bet you make should be roughly one percent of your bankroll for the entire season. Make sure not to go over that figure because once you start shooting big, you can flame out even bigger if you go on a cooler. No Bueno.
Remember, if you are going bad then call it quits for the day. Don’t chase your losses because there will always be something to bet on tomorrow. And make sure to limit your number of wagers to only a few per day, and if you see nothing you like then skip it. You don’t need to bet everything you watch, just those events where you believe there is a sound advantage waiting to be exploited.
- Choose the Right Online Sportsbook – You may not know it but there is a decent chance you will win a bet, or series of bets, request a payout but never get paid. Yes, the scammers are everywhere and that includes the wonderful world of online bookmaking. So, make sure you never choose a book to bet with based on an ad you saw or a recommendation from a friend (he or she might never have requested a payout so they don’t know if the sportsbook they are using is legitimate or not).
Fortunately, there are independent industry watchdogs out there whose sole purpose is to expose the fraudsters and assign a letter grade ranging from A to F. These grades are the result of surveys, customer feedback, a sportsbook’s longevity, bonuses, dashboard aesthetics, betting options, ease of navigation, multiple platforms including mobile, and lastly payment efficacy.
You will find all this information in the form of reviews with the letter grade at the top next to the name of the online sportsbook. For instance, the WagerWeb Review is a perfect example of an online sportsbook that has all the bells and whistles for anyone out there seeking a seamless betting experience. But whichever sportsbook you choose, make sure to choose wisely.
FC Schalke 04 Esports signs Kirei
Erberk “Gilius” Demir is out and Thomas “Kirei” Yuen is in as the starting jungler position in the 2021 League of Legends European Championship Summer Split. S04 also changed gears with their mid laner as Ilias “Nuclearint” Bizriken will join the LEC roster in place of Felix “Abbedagge” Braun.
Schalke posted explained the change to its fans, “We looked into options for the jungle position in this offseason, and very early on realized that Kirei could be a great fit for us for,” S04 said. After participating in a try-out period with the team, the coaching staff, management, and players warmed up to the idea of signing the jungler.
“We have a lot of confidence that with our coaching staff and such strong players next to him, he’ll be able to prove the potential he’s always shown in the past,” Schalke said.
On Twitter, the response to the change was a mixed bag ranging from “great move” to “WTF” and doinbfanboy @dgebcool18 tweeted the following, “i hate this move too but comon if you follow euw solo q you know kirei is always at the top of solo q since season 6. Still Gillius didnt deserve this”
We predict that it will be a positive swap in the long run as Kirei had developed more chemistry with his teammates in a small tryout period than Gilius had throughout his entire time spent with the team. Make sure to keep an eye out on this group to go far this season.
