A former Miss Universe champ has called out trolls for shaming her daughter’s lunchbox online.
Rachael Finch, 32, posted a photo of Violet’s food on her Instagram stories to her 300,000 followers.
In the image, the lunch contains a healthy supply of cut-up cucumber, carrot sticks, red grapes, strawberries and rice crackers.
The mum also provided a hard-boiled egg, some cooked wholemeal pasta and cauliflower stalks in a separate container.
But it seems as though Rachael’s well-balanced lunch didn’t go down a treat with some of her fans.
After sharing the photo, it sparked a large conversation about the lunchbox not being enough food for her daughter.
One slammed: “I don’t think she feeds Violet enough food.”
It’s uncertain how or why the message was sent to the mum-of-two who later defended her decision.
She said: “That was a message that was sent to me by accident – but it opened a door for conversation around what I feed my kids.
“There were a lot of people saying that they were unfollowing me because I don’t feed Violet enough food.”
Like most parents on social media, the mum shared a glimpse into her daughter’s lunch for her first day back at school.
Rachael insisted her number one priority was ensuring her kids are happy and healthy.
She added: “I give them real food, I give them whole pieces of fruit, and I give them vegetables in their lunchbox.
“So Violet will go to school with sushi and a Greek salad, for example.”
The mum continued: “I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve read comments or articles about how ‘strict’ my kids’ food is or how I ‘deprive’ them of a normal childhood.
“If a mother wants to feed her child cherry tomatoes over cheezels then she can.
“It’s not deprivation or a screwed up childhood… it’s because she cares, and perhaps she has learnt from experience.”
The parent also revealed her daughter Violet does have treats from time-to-time.
She detailed: “She knows why 80% of the time we eat the way we do.
“I do my best to explain to her why her plate looks the way it does – mostly vegetables, good quality protein, complex carbohydrates and fats.”
Rachael often shares recipes on her Instagram and has attracted a legion of followers for her healthy approach to living.
She is also a TV host, model and founder of various health and fitness brands.
