As it turns out, former Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb won’t be going far for his new job after all.
Grubb, who spent the last two seasons with the Huskies, had followed former Washington coach Kalen DeBoer to Alabama, as he had planned to reprise his role as offensive coordinator under DeBoer in Tuscaloosa.
But plans have changed.
Grubb isn’t leaving the state of Washington, as he has been hired by the Seattle Seahawks to be their new offensive coordinator, making him the latest addition to new coach Mike Macdonald’s staff, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times and multiple reports.
The Seahawks could announce the hire as soon as Saturday, per Condotta.
Grubb has been a coach at various levels since 2003—and a play-caller since 2019—but has never coached at the NFL level. He was the primary architect of an explosive Washington offense that ranked second in the nation in passing yards per game and powered the Huskies to an appearance in the national championship game during the 2023 season.
Seattle’s coordinators are now in place under Macdonald, who also brought in Jay Harbaugh to run special teams and Aden Durde as their defensive coordinator.
