Fans have launched a ‘Make Kanye West a billionaire again’ GoFundMe page after the rapper claimed that he had lost $2 billion.
The American rapper and Yeezy founder, who is legally known as Ye, has made headlines after he made antisemitic comments which have been highly condemned by fellow celebrities as well as companies.
In an Instagram post on October 26, Ye claimed that he’d lost $2 billion in one day after several brands cut ties with him.
Since then, fans have reportedly started a GoFundMe page to raise some money so that he can return to his billionaire status.
Fans start ‘Make Kanye West a billionaire again’ GoFundMe
Fans have reportedly launched a GoFundMe fundraiser page in hopes to raise money and bring back Ye’s billionaire status.
According to several screenshots shared by Pop Tingz, Say Cheese and Daily Loud, the page is called ‘Make Kanye West a billionaire again’ and reportedly has the aim to raise $1 billion.
Earlier this month, German sportswear brand Adidas announced that it had ended collaborating with the rapper and seized production of all Yeezy-branded products with immediate effect.
After the announcement, Forbes reported that Kanye is no longer a billionaire after Adidas and other companies like Gap and Balenciaga ended their partnership with the rapper.
The GoFundMe is not available
The GoFundMe page is no longer available but the screenshots from the page have attracted a lot of attention and reactions from social media users.
One person tweeted: “There’re so many other people who can benefit from that money. You could build a whole school with that or help hundreds of children & families why even bother making him a billionaire again??”
Another one asked: “People would rather donate to a multi-hundred millionaire and not charities?”
“I wish people did the same for others that are actually in need,” a third one added.
Meanwhile, someone else was baffled about what happened and asked: “I’m still confused what happened with him?”
Kanye West’s net worth
Forbes reported that without Adidas’ partnership, Ye’s net worth suffered a steep fall to $400 million.
“The superstar rapper no longer has a place on the Forbes Billionaires’ list now that his lucrative deal with Adidas is over,” Forbes wrote on its website.
The publication also noted that Ye always felt his wealth wasn’t correctly reported.
In 2020, when Forbes reported the rapper was worth a billion dollars, he had reportedly texted the outlet: “It’s not a billion. It’s $3.3 billion since no one at Forbes knows how to count.”
