Give it a try yourself with this guide:
Sausage and Egg Muffin
Ingredients:
- 1 Pork & Herb Sausage Pattie (38p) (105cal)
- 1 Organic egg (30p) (62cal)
- 1 English muffin (15p) (158cal)
- 1 Mature Cheese Slice (9p) (52cal)
Tools:
- Frying pan
- Spatula
- Egg ring
- Melting dome (I use the KitchenCraft MasterClass MCMDOME)
Method:
- You can cook the patties from frozen which is useful – so I stuck one in a pan on a medium heat.
- While it’s cooking cut the muffins in half and get the cheese slice out.
- After 5 mins or so flip the pattie over. At this point stick an egg ring in the pan and break an egg into it. Break the yolk and spread it round a bit.
- After 3 mins or so stick the melting dome over the pan to cook the top of the egg. Have a look under the dome every minute or so to see when the pattie and egg is cooked to your liking.
- When done take the pattie and egg out of the pan and stick them on a forman grill to keep them warm. If you don’t have one, you could put them on a plate under the grill on a low heat to keep warm.
- Depending on how the egg looks when you pop it out of its ring – you may want to stick the egg back in the pan just to cook the top a bit more. Either way at this stage fry the bottom of the muffin slices in the pan to give them a nice crisp.
- When the muffin slices are nearly done to your liking, take the top muffin slice off the pan and stick it on the foreman or plate to keep warm.
- Keep the bottom muffin slice in the pan, turn it over, turn the heat off, stick a cheese slice on the muffin and stick the dome back on to melt the cheese a bit.
- Have a look after a minute or so and then stick the pattie on, then the egg and finally the muffin top. Wrap them in wax paper to serve. Enjoy!

You can find the sausage patties at Morrisons in the freezer section.
Or, alternatively, you can make them yourself.
A commenter wrote: “You can make them incredibly easily and cheaply. Pork mince, sage, thyme, lots of black pepper and salt.
“Shape them by hand or use a biscuit cutter.
“Freeze them on a sheet of baking paper then store them for months with pieces of baking paper between them.”
Yum!
We’re definitely giving this a try at the weekend!
