Boxing’s household name and one of the biggest modern-day boxing stars, Carl Frampton, finally hung up his gloves from the sport. Prior to the Jamel Herring fight, he asserted on signing off from boxing if he doesn’t put a win. That said, the Belfast native abided by his words and took retirement after his loss tonight.
In the post-fight interview, an emotional Carl Frampton dedicated his career to his wife and children. He even remembered his amateur boxing coach who passed away recently.
The ‘Jackal’ added that he will look forward to spending time with his family from hereon. He also thanked his team and admitted that the last few years were his career-best.
The fight began well for the 34-year-old, yet he couldn’t match up with Herring to land his power hits.
He tried going toe to toe with the champ and remained fairly successful in the same early on.
But as the fight progressed, Frampton lost control of the ring and ended up falling prey to cosmic straight lefts and uppercuts from Jamel Herring. He went down to the canvas multiple times, and couldn’t retain his momentum later.
‘Semper Fi’s reach played a pivotal part in this fight, as he was able to close the distance and land his power shots on the latter. Post-fight, he went to console the former two-division champ and shared some words of wisdom for him.

Carl Frampton – the stout pugilist
Frampton enjoyed a prolific run in boxing, displaying 28 wins on his pro-boxing resume. He was supremely optimistic about giving his best shot in this fight and leaving the ring with the WBO gold. However, things didn’t go well for the sturdy boxer tonight.
Despite a loss in the biggest fight of his life, Frampton can only be proud of the entertainment he’s given to boxing fans over so many years.
He has a career to look upon and looking back at his performance tonight, he can only take the positives out.
With an enigmatic boxing run, Carl Frampton left a tremendous impact and etched his name in the history books.
