Today will see a new content update released by Epic Games for Fortnite Battle Royale.
And the good news is that there will be no need for downtime or server maintenance. So gamers won’t have to wait around to get back online following the launch of today’s patch.
Epic Games has also confirmed when the Fortnite v10.20 Update will be launching today. According to the dev team, new content will be going live at 8am EST in the United States.
For gamers in the UK, that means the new update going live at around 1pm in the afternoon.
Any changes to this schedule are expected to be shared by Epic Games beforehand, however, there’s no reason to expect a delay.
With server downtime, the big news will be centered around what has been added to Fortnite Battle Royale.
And all of this information will be shared in the official Fortnite Patch Notes, which will be going live soon after the patch goes live.
This was revealed by Epic Games earlier this week, along with a small hint at what might be included.
“The v10.20 Content Update arrives tomorrow, September 3 at 8 AM ET,” Epic Games posted a few hours ago.
“See WATT’s new when the Patch Notes are available! No downtime required.”
This a clear hint at the launch of the new Zapper Trap item on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mobile and Nintendo Switch.
Not only was this new item leaked as part of last week’s update, but it’s also featured as part of the in-game news feed.
“Danger: High voltage,” reads the in-game description. “Trap ’em and zap ’em.”
Players will reportedly be able to place the Zapper Trap on floors, walls, roofs and potentially even enemy builds.
Once activated, the Zapper Trap will almost certainly damage unlucky players with an electric shock.
Elsewhere, Epic Games is working on gameplay tweaks and bug fixes for a number of long-running issues.
There could also be news of the game’s next big event, which is expected to kick off soon.
One change that gamers aren’t expecting is the return of the Turbo-Building tweaks that proved so unpopular last week.
The reduction in speed drew widespread criticism from gamers and streamers soon after it went live.
“The Turbo Build delay adjustments we made yesterday to subsequent structure pieces placed have been changed back to their previous value, 0.005* seconds,” Epic Games confirmed at the time.
“Your ability to perform “90s” and “waterfall” should feel exactly the same as it did before yesterday’s changes.
“Now, when a structure is destroyed, there will be a delay of 0.15 seconds before another structure can be placed in the same location.
“If two or more players attempt to build a structure in the same location at the same time right after a piece has been destroyed, a random roll will now determine which player’s structure is placed.”
