JAMES WARD-PROWSE scored at both ends as Southampton suffered late heartbreak at Fulham.
His own goal gave the Cottagers the half time lead at Craven Cottage.
That also looked like it would create some unwanted history for new Saints boss Nathan Jones.
The former Luton Town chief was on the verge of becoming the first Southampton manager to lose his first three Premier League matches since Nigel Adkins in 2012.
But it looked like his captain had spared him as he stepped up to rifle home a free-kick just after the hour mark to earn a share of the spoils.
However, João Palhinha’s header with just two minutes to go did condemn the Saints to defeat and lifted Fulham up to seventh.
