Trying to convince your children to do chores can often be a chore itself.

No matter how much you nag them, they just won’t simply listen at times.

One woman has come up with a genius trick to get her kids to help out – and it’s been branded “genius”.

The Australian mum hides cash rewards in rubbish around the home and it’s certainly making her children more productive.

Posting on Facebook in the Mums Who Clean group, the woman said she stuck $20 (£20) inside an empty toilet roll as a reward.

However it did take a while for her husband and kids to catch on to the “finder’s keepers” prize.

In a photo it shows how the piece of cardboard remained on the bathroom floor for days on end.

She wrote: “Clearly this game hasn’t worked here yet. For now, I’ll keep upping the prize money, knowing it’s coming back.”

Since she shared the trick on the popular Facebook group, it’s no surprise that other parents thought it was incredible.

One wrote: “This needs to be shared with the world.”

Another added: “You’re a dead set genius.”

A third commented: “My kids would probably pick it up, take out the money and throw it back on the floor and run around excitedly.”

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first mum who uses money to encourage her children to do chores around the house.

One woman who was getting sick and tired of the boys leaving the toilet seat up was branded “brilliant” for her sneaky trick.

Cathy, who shared the trick on TikTok, said she regularly discovers a mess in the toilets despite her kids claiming to follow the rules.

She got inspired by another user and decided to find out if the trick would work.

The parent placed a £20 note in a clear plastic bag and attached it to the inside of the toilet seat rim before putting the seat back on.

When she shared it at the time, the mum’s post racked up a massive 2.8million views.
