Ghislaine Maxwell demands access to her laptop as she moans jail computers are ‘very slow’

GHISLAINE Maxwell has demanded access to her personal laptop.

The 59-year-old British ex-girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein, who has been held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York since last year, is currently allowed her laptop during the week to review documents ahead of her people-trafficking trial.

Maxwell is already allowed her laptop '13-hours a day' during the week, prosecutors said

In court documents obtained by MailOnline, her lawyer Bobbi Sternheim has requested the accused madam – who is allowed her laptop during the week – also be handed her computer to review files on weekends and during holidays.

The letter states the jail’s machines are “utterly inadequate”.

It also claims Maxwell has been subjected to physiological and physical abuse by prison staff, who allegedly “mishandled” hard-drives causing them not to work properly.

The document states: “Hard drives provided by the government have been mishandled by MDC staff (dropped on the floor and slammed on a cart) causing them to become degraded and unstable and to randomly shut down.

“The time, resources and funds expended on problems caused by the electronic discovery and the computers is unnecessary, wasteful, and frustrating.”

Speaking on behalf of moaning Maxwell, lawyer Ms Sternheim, who has previously represented death-row inmates, said the 30 minutes it takes to upload the “millions” of files onto the jail computers was “very slow”.

The accused underage people-trafficker, who it is also alleged took part in some of the sexual abuse of the victims, cannot use the time uploading to review the documents either, the lawyer said.

But prosecutors hit back that Maxwell is allowed to review the documents for “13-hours a day” on a laptop that was “hand-delivered” by lawyers.

They said the time allowed is far more than is afforded to any other prisoner.

Maxwell is currently locked up at the hellish detention center in Brooklyn, as she awaits trial on charges of conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse girls.

Maxwell is alleged to have been at the centre of peado financier Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking ring which lured in girls for abuse, which she denies.

Yet more court papers were unsealed by a judge last week, with one alleging she confiscated the passport of a “distraught” 15-year-old “slave” because she refused to have sex with Epstein.

One document reads: “One witness (redacted) was in tears, as he recounted (Maxwell) bringing a 15-year-old girl into his employer’s home who, in the utmost distress, told him that (Maxwell) stole the young girl’s passport and tried to make her have sex with Epstein and then threatened her.”

The filing also included testimony from Rinaldo Rizzo, a butler who worked for hedge fund billionaire Glenn Dubin and his wife, Eva Andersson-Dubin.

Rizzo had said in filings for an unrelated case that Epstein and Maxwell brought a 15-year-old Swedish girl with them when they visited his employers in New York, the Daily Mail reports.
