HARRISON Ford may need surgery after injuring his shoulder on the set of the latest Indiana Jones blockbuster.
Film bosses fear the Hollywood star could be out of action for over a month after hurting it in a choreographed fight scene.
The major setback is set to throw filming of the fifth and final instalment – and 78-year-old Ford’s last – into chaos.
A source said: “He was filming an action scene on a train within Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire when he felt it go.
“He aggravated an old injury but it’s bad enough for him to require surgery to put it right.
“The crew have been warned that there could be a four to five week break in filming at the very least.
“It’s not known yet if he will fly back to the US for surgery. It’s all up in the air and schedules are being re-written.
Film studio Disney did not disclose the severity of Ford’s injury, but said the filming schedule would be adjusted.
It is not the first time the actor has been hurt on set.
He was crushed by a hydraulic door of the Millennium Falcon whilst filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens seven years ago.
The actor suffered a broken leg and had to be airlifted to hospital.
A production company owned by Disney was later fined £1.6million for breaching health and safety laws after a court was told Ford could have been killed.
Ford has been filming for the latest flick in Yorkshire, Bamburgh and in Scotland – as well as Pinewood.
A Disney statement said: “In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder.
“Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks.”
The new film is also due to star Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen.
Ford will hang up his fedora at the end of this film which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas in July 2022.
