Girl Scout cookie sales underway
Waste collection increases, so does cost
The Port Lavaca City Council approved a five-year extension with Republic Services for solid waste, brush, and bulky item pickup.
The contract extension was on the Jan. 10 agenda as a 3 percent Consumer Price Index increase was set to go into effect in February. The city currently pays $17.53 per customer. The city has a fix rate CPI increase and over two years, the rates would have increased $1.07 with a 53 cents raise in 2022 and a 54 cent raise in 2023.
