Synopsis: Overnight fast-moving upper-level winds (45 mph) will keep gusty conditions with winds around 10-30 mph Sunday night into Monday morning.  These winds should keep fog on the limited side.  High pressure off to the east will keep temperatures on the hot side once again to kick off the work week. For a couple of hours, temperatures out west could range from 110 to 115 degrees for the heat indices with a Heat Advisory being likely.  Rain should not be part of the forecast the next few days.  25 mph winds will allow for a moderate risk for rip currents South of Port “A” on Monday.

For the long-term period, Monday Night through Sunday, a high-pressure system (sitting in the same place) in the Mississippi River Valley stretched out to South Texas will be in control of the weather in the region Tuesday through Friday.  The high-pressure system will be held in place by a low-pressure system to the west in the Northern California that will move into the (central_ Rocky Mountains on Thursday and then into the Northern Plains on Friday.  Also, anchored down by a low-pressure system over the Atlantic Ocean that is drifting to the southwest.

High-pressure over the southeast part of the United States on Tuesday will move west into the western Gulf of Mexico by Thursday.  The moisture moving in from the Gulf could push heat index temperatures close to 110 degrees out west away from the Gulf in South Texas on Tuesday.  As the high-pressure systems moves to the east (west), this will allow temperatures to be cooler compared to the latest mini heatwave the area endured.   High temperatures will remain above average until Thursday, when temperatures (highs) drop down into the 80’s and closer to average.  A drier air mass will be in place while winds remain on the light side Through Saturday.
