Synopsis: Heat indices were very hot on Sunday (112 degrees with some spots at 116 degrees along the Seabreeze for periods of time) and ambient as well as heat indices will be sweltering on Monday (today) as well.  Heat advisories should reactivate again on Monday as temperatures range from 95 to 110 degrees and heat indices range from 110 to 114 degrees.  Going outside on Monday will require limiting time outside, drinking lots of water and wearing loose-fitting and light-colored clothing to avoid heat related illnesses.   The boundary that moved into Central Texas and brought some light rain to locations just north of the viewing area should do just that, stay just to the north of the viewing area.  Due to the storm CAP/LID weakening, daytime energy from the sun, and lift along the boundary and the area saw some light showers with most of the activity (rain) evaporating before making land fall.

That criteria could bring some more showers to the area on Monday as the sun heats up the Crossroads and destabilizes the atmosphere.  More than likely most spots will stay dry on Monday.  Rip Currents will be at a Moderate Risk on the Gulf-facing beaches on Monday.

For the long-term period,  Tuesday through Sunday, high pressure that’s over the Four Corners region will move across Texas during the long-term period.  Troughs and storms will move in from the east.  The high-pressure could slow down the progression and advancement of the trough as well as the rain all together.  The trough will move into the northern Gulf during the middle of the week.  Rain chances will stay in the 20-25 percent range but if the trough pushes closer and further west then rain chances will increase by the middle of the week.  Heat indices will stay in the 105–109-degree range with heat advisory’s being possible through Wednesday and even possibly again on Thursday.  The first half of the week temperatures will stay in the triple digits but will drop down later in the week while heat indices still stay above 100 degrees.

Remember to limit time outside, drink lots of water and wear loose-fitting and light-colored clothing to avoid heat related illnesses.

Tropical Update: A trough of low-pressure in northwestern Georgia will

slowly move towards the northeastern Gulf of Mexico.  Further development is at 10 percent for the next 48-hours and 30 percent for the next 5-days.  For now, development will be slow while areas of heavy rain can occur along the Gulf coast from Florida to Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle.
