Comprehensive tests, covering HMPV along with other respiratory pathogens, may cost up to ₹20,000. Samples for testing include nasopharyngeal swabs, sputum, and tracheal aspirates.

HMPV, first identified in 2001, is a respiratory RNA virus commonly active during colder months. DThe virus primarily affects the respiratory system, especially among young children and elderly individuals with lower immunity levels.
HMPV symptoms in healthy adults resemble those of a common cold, such as a sore throat, cough, and nasal congestion. However, vulnerable groups might develop severe complications, including pneumonia and respiratory distress.
