Saltfleet, Lincolnshire
This Grade II-listed manor house, currently a B&B, has many a claim to fame. Oliver Cromwell stayed there, it inspired a Tennyson poem and, between the first and second world wars, it became a museum. The property includes the B&B business by separate negotiation. Although renovated over the years, period features have been retained, such as the oak staircase, fireplaces and exposed beams. The kitchen has a farmhouse feel with a dark blue Aga and crockery hanging from hooks from the ceiling. Saltfleet has a sandy beach, backed by dunes. £650,000. Savills, 01522 508 908
