THIS is the horrific moment a mum was gunned down in front of her two young kids by her evil “ex boyfriend.”
Maria Cristina Calle, 46, died in broad daylight in the Colombian city of Cali after being blasted in the throat.
Local newspaper Tu Barco said that the children seen in CCTV images with her at the time of the killing were her children.
According to Cali security official Carlos Rojas, the woman was on her way to an appointment with her kids when the gunman approached her.
The newspaper Noticias Caracol said the victim was shot four times – including in the throat – and died at the scene.
The shooter then ran from the scene and remains at large.
Cali major Jorge Ivan Ospina said: “Everything suggests that it was her ex-boyfriend so it is a new case of femicide.”
The mayor also offered a reward of £4,000 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Ospina said: “We cannot allow this crime to go unpunished.”
He added that 70 women have been murdered in the city so far this year with 20 cases considered femicides – the act of killing a woman by a current or ex partner.
Gender equality official Nancy Faride said: “The city is mourning because another woman has been the victim of a public murder.
“Now, homes and public places are no longer safe for women. We feel very insecure.”
The investigation is ongoing and so far no arrests have been made.
Al Jazeera reports an average of nearly three women a day were killed in Colombia in September.
It is the highest monthly total researchers have documented since they began tracking the killings in 2017.
