Drew Brees is in his first year as a NBC broadcaster, but what is his salary for calling games on the network? How does it compare with his New Orleans Saints contracts?
When they call it quits from playing, former NFL players usually have one of three options with which to fill their time.
They can either step away from the game completely, go into coaching or become a broadcaster.
After 20 seasons with the San Diego Chargers and then the New Orleans Saints, Drew Brees retired in 2021 – and opted to go into broadcasting.
As a Super Bowl winner, his services were high in demand – with NBC eventually sealing Brees as an analyst.

Drew Brees NBC salary
The exact figure of Drew Brees’ NBC salary is not actually known.
The broadcaster prefers to keep such numbers private – but that’s not to say the figure is completely unknown.
ESPN was also keen on securing Brees’ services as an analyst – letting their salary offer become public – at $6 million.
NBC is believed to be paying Brees more than that amount to have secured him.
It is a long way behind Tony Romo over on CBS however, who pockets $17 million yearly.
How does it compare to his Chargers/Saints deals?
Brees spent the first five years of his career at San Diego, earning $13.1 million over the course of his stay.
The first year of his first contract was worth $320,000 in base salary.
By the time he left for New Orleans, it had risen to $8 million.
Throughout his stay in New Orleans, the biggest his salary got to was $13.5 million in 2017 in base salary alone.
In his 15 years, he earned $97.2 million in salary from the Saints.
His total career earnings were a hefty $269 million.
If Drew Brees’ salary at NBC is $6 million, he’d have to work for the broadcaster until 2066 to draw level – when he’d be 87 years old.
