Many people are trying to still keep fit during the coronavirus pandemic, especially as gyms are closed currently and many are in lockdown.
And The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton is no exception.
Prince William ‘s wife is known to have a solid exercise regime, and luckily for us, her routine is relatively easy to emulate.
Roberta Fiorito, co-host of the Royally Obsessed podcast, has given an insight into Kate’s fitness routines and why exercising matters to the Royal Family member.
In an exclusive interview with Harper’s BAZAAR, Fiorito said competition is the thing that motivates Kate, 39.
She said Kate was naturally athletic when she growing up – playing sports as a child.
Nowadays, she often takes part in physical activities at royal engagements – even competing against her husband, Prince William.
Fiorito said: “We know Kate is so competitive and so outdoors-y.
“She’s talked about how much she loves the outdoors, and anytime there’s a sporting event she and William can participate in, they’re super competitive.”
Fiorito also said that one of Kate’s favourite activities – when in or out of lockdown – is going for a run on the grounds of Anmer Hall, her country house in Norfolk, England.
She said this is something she’s probably keeping up even in the cold weather, with all the time spent at their Norfolk home.
Anmer Hall also has a swimming pool and tennis courts, according to The Daily Mail, which Kate reportedly takes advantage of.
As well as these activities, Kate is also a fan of skiing, cycling, and rowing. This was shown when she participated in the inaugural King’s Cup regatta with William in August 2019.
Fiorito claims Kate has an indoor rowing machine which she uses even when she can’t get on the water.
She also claims Kate works out every day and is into planking – keeping her core in shape.
Fiorito says fitness isn’t about physical appearance for Kate – she wants to promote a healthy lifestyle to her children Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two.
“For her, a lot of it is setting a good example for George, Charlotte, and Louis, saying ‘Look at how important exercise is–I do it every day,’” she says.
“Kids take up habits from being led by example, and Kate shows them how a healthy lifestyle looks and feels.”
So how can you follow Kate’s exercise routine to keep yourself fit during lockdown?
The easiest way you can follow Kate is to go for a brisk walk or run outdoors.
If you don’t want to work out alone, grab your partner or a friend and look to have a tennis match when the courts are open.
For days when it’s a bit chilly outside, try using a medicine ball or planking inside your home, and challenge yourself.
Kate can reportedly hold a plank for more than 45 seconds, and does at least 10 reps, according to The Daily Mail.
Who knows, you could have the body of a Duchess in a shorter amount of time that you think.
