For avid internet shoppers, June 21st is a very exciting day indeed, as it marks the start of Amazon’s “Prime Day” for this year.
Prime Day is a virtual event which lets shoppers browse through hundreds of heavily discounted products on Amazon, and the online market place offers deals on technology, alcohol, clothing, beauty, kitchenware and more.
In a press release, Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime said:
“Prime Day is a celebration of our Prime members, and we’re excited to bring members great deals across an incredible selection, whether members want to shop and save on top brands, buzzworthy items, or small business collections.”
How long does Amazon Prime Day last?
Although it is called “Prime Day,” the online event actually lasts for two days, beginning on June 21st, and ending on June 22nd.
Prime Day begins with a bang on June 21st at midnight PDT (3am EDT) for members in the US, the UK, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Spain, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, China, Brazil, Belgium, Austria, and Australia.
Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime stated:
“Since we launched Prime Day in 2015, it’s delivered great new ways to shop, gift, watch movies and TV, and even dance, and we’re excited to carry on that tradition.”
How to take part in Amazon Prime Day
To take part in Prime Day, you must have an Amazon Prime account.
An Amazon account will cost you £7.99 a month, but if you don’t want to pay, you can start a free trial on the Amazon website, which is only available to new customers.
If you are a student, you are able to sign up for a six month long free trial, after which you will only have to pay £3.99 a month for your Prime account.
With an Amazon Prime account, you will be entitled to unlimited next day delivery on millions of items, as well as being granted free access to Prime Video and Amazon Music.
