Tributes are flooding social media for Conservative MP Sir David Amess following his death.
The 69-year-old was stabbed multiple times at his constituency surgery at a church in Leigh-On-Sea, Essex on Friday (October 15th).
A knife was recovered in the nearby area and a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
He was the MP for Southend West for 24 years, from 1997 until his death, and previously served as MP for nearby town Basildon from 1983 to 1997.

David Amess has five children with his wife Julia Arnold.
They have a son and four daughters: Katie, David, Sarah, Alexandra and Florence
David’s children are all adults, all over the age of 30.
His son David Jr was jailed for four years in 2005 for ‘wounding with intent’ after smashing a bottle of champagne over a man’s head in a nightclub.
David’s daughter Katie Amess is an English actress and model who has appeared in a number of adverts as well as the film Captain America: Civil War and CBS TV shows Bull and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.
Meet David’s wife
David’s wife is Julia Arnold.
She worked as a part time caseworker for her husband before his death.
Not much is known about her, but the pair were married for 38 years, since 1983.
They presumably lived together in David’s constituency, Southend-On-Sea in Essex.
Boris Johnson pays tribute to David Amess
In a statement, Boris Johnson paid tribute to Sir David Amess and described him as one of the “kindest people in politics”.
“The reason I think people are so shocked and saddened is above all, he was one of the kindest, nicest and most gentle people in politics,” he said.
“We’ve lost today a fine public servant and a much loved friend and colleague,” he continued.
In another statement, he also called him a “true gentleman” and a “decent family man”.
