Star-Crossed is an album that surprised many fans as they expected it to be more intense. But, the songs guide the listeners from the early stages of marriage through to the aftermath of a divorce.
Kacey told Rolling Stone in an interview that the 15-track album is divided into three acts and inspired by Greek tragedies.
The album has references to the most famous of all star-crossed lovers: Romeo and Juliet.
The concept album was co-released by Universal Music Group Nashville and Interscope, and it leaves the listeners in a dizzy and seductive state.
