TikTok’s Hot or Not composite images challenge is doing the rounds as a new trend in 2021. By using a filter and a generic composite images photo, TikTok users can take part in the viral challenge. Here’s a look at what it is and how you can join in…
The ‘Hot or Not’ challenge isn’t something that so new to social media. For a long time, TikTok users have created videos around rating other people out of 10 or deciding whether they’re ‘hot’ or ‘not’. However, TikTok’s Hot or Not composite images challenge is slightly different.
Hot or Not composite images trend on TikTok
The ‘Hot or Not’ composite images trend on TikTok sees users compare their faces to that of a composite image sheet which rates each face out of 10.
The composite image is made up of more than one face combined. Each one is ranked from one to 10.
The image is available to download from Wikimedia Commons, the image should be saved to your camera roll in order to use it for the TikTok trend.

How to do the Hot or Not composite images challenge
TikTok users who wish to join in with the ‘Hot or Not’ trend and create a video themselves can do so very easily.
After downloading the composite image sheet, TikTok users should head to the ‘discover’ page and type in ‘shifting’ or ‘shapeshifting’ – both filters will work.
The filter matches your face with a face on the composite image sheet. While some TikTokers were happy with their result, others were less than impressed by being rated a one out of 10 by the filter.
What filter is used for the ‘Hot or Not’ TikTok challenge?
Most TikTokers taking part in the challenge make use of the #shapeshifting filter as well as a song by The Refreshments called ‘King of The Hill Theme’.
Many TikTok users have added text to the videos which often displays their said ‘rating’ from the filter.
By the looks of things, a male version of the ‘Hot or Not’ composite image is yet to be created for men to take part in the challenge.
