Carbon fiber is an amazing material: it is lightweight, while also being extremely strong, resistant to chemicals, tolerant to high temperatures, and basically capable to withstand nearly all adverse conditions better than any other conventional forms of matter.

Thus it is no wonder that carbon fiber is a perfect candidate for diverse uses in aerospace, construction industry, energy sector, military, all kinds of sports, and many other areas. The only problem is that this material is difficult to produce, which leads to its exceptionally high cost.
So is carbon fiber really that strong to justify its cost? The following video presents a simple experiment, where different material samples are tested using a hydraulic press until the point where the sample is broken:
