Claressa Shields is one of the most-watched female fighters in the world. In a brief span of time, Shields hit the right chords to attain vast success in the fight business. With her solid work ethic, ‘T-Rex’ has inspired an upcoming generation of female boxers.
The unified super-welterweight champion will step inside the ring this Friday against Marie Eve Dicaire. This will be her first fight after a long 14-month layoff. Recently, Shields attended the pre-fight press conference. Here, she talked about this fight and her fear of losing.
“This year I’m concerned about the outcome because I don’t like losing. When I lost my first fight when I was 17, I didn’t sleep again until I was 21 when I won the second Olympics. So, that’s how personal I take this fight,” she said.
‘T-Rex’ flashed back to the first time she suffered a loss. It was in her amateur career while she was just 17. Despite that being the only loss in her decorated amateur career, Shields did not enjoy that fleck on her resume at all.
In the above statement, she asserted of not sleeping until she compensated for that loss with a win in the 2016 Olympics. Talking about her upcoming battle, she stated it is personal and she’ll leave no stones unturned in bagging a win.
With a slick pro-record already, the 25-year-old is hungry to add another cracking win to her name.
