Nick Grimshaw is amazed that his Radio 1 pal Jordan North even agreed to go on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here as the poor lad is even scared of going up a lift.
Radio 1 presenter Jordan has provided solid entertainment the past couple of days after vomiting during his first trial and then having a panic attack before doing his second challenge in a coffin of snakes with Shane Ritchie yesterday.
Revealing the extent of Jordan’s fears, Nick said: ‘He is genuinely scared of everything.
‘Last night when I found out he was going to be locked in a vault with snakes I was like, he won’t do this because he is even scared of the lifts at Radio 1.
‘He won’t get into the lift, we’re on the eighth floor so every weekend when he comes in he’ll walk up. The lifts are scary so why he’s gone on I’m A Celebrity, I don’t know.’
When Susanna Reid noted that all the courage went to Jordan’s brother who’s a parachutist in the military, Nick also joked: ‘I think if you’re not good at anything you end up just becoming a DJ, that’s what I did.’
Nick also predicted that Jordan will now be voted for every trial after being picked by the public again for another trial that will air tonight.
Viewers got an interesting introduction to Jordan in episode one of the new series, when he vomited before having to descend a cliff in the first trial.
The moment which ITV chose to air has sparked around 39 Ofcom complaints from viewers who were unhappy with the graphic scenes.
Earlier on GMB, Piers Morgan mocked those who had contacted the watchdog and said: ‘Who complains to Ofcom? Who does that?’ before putting on a mocking voice and saying: ‘Who says, “I’m going to make a formal complaint to a television regulator because he vomited on television?”
‘Same people who watch unbelievable crime but someone vomiting? Outrage.’
More: I’m A Celebrity
During last night’s I’m A Celebrity, Jordan almost bottled the second trial which saw him climb into a vault with around 30 snakes while trying to unlock stars. He got through the ordeal by going to his ‘happy place’ which was advice given to him by his brother before joining the series.
However he overcame his fear and managed to take nine stars back to camp.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here returns tonight on ITV at 9pm.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am.
