A quick scroll through Instagram will show you a barrage of ‘perfectly’ toned influencers often with big bums and a teeny waist.
This ‘ideal’ curvy body type is usually wanted by many, which can make some people insecure if they do not possess the same figure.
Well, body positive influencer and model Nelly London has taken to Instagram to fight the idea of having a ‘perfect’ body.
In her recent post, the stunning influencer posted a cheeky snap of herself donning brown underwear to her 445,000 followers.
Flaunting her curves, Nelly added text to the post that read: “It’s okay if your tummy is bigger than your bum.”
After being fed of the ‘rules’ of what women should look like, the Brighton-based influencer captioned the inspiring post: “We must be toned but not muscular, strong but not manly, curvy but only in the certain places, have a big bum bum but no cellulite…
“A small waist but not be too thin, big boobs but they can’t sag, wide hips but no stretch marks, a big bum but a flat stomach.
“I am so bored of these rules that are automatically applied to our bodies.
“We don’t want them, they make no sense, they serve no purpose, just let our bodies be.”
Urging her followers to not feel guilty about their bodies, Nelly added: “Needless to say it’s okay if your body is literally anything, not just if your tummy is bigger than your bum, this is just a single example.”
Feeling empowered by Nelly’s post, people fled to the comments to thank the influencer for sharing her body positive post.
One person commented: “I was just crying about this and how bad I felt, but seeing this made me cry harder. Thank you for this miss Nelly. It’s a message that needs to be heard.”
Another user added: “This is such a rule I used to have and be so upset if my body at the time broke!!! Thanks for talking about this.”
While a third person noted: “Your body doesn’t have to meet unrealistic standards. Your body is perfect as is.”
Someone else remarked: “Yes. Important. I’ve always felt like I have the most unfashionable body. Thick short waist and thin legs with not much of a bum. Too heavy.”
“Still trying to be kind about my proportions and I still find it really hard. Posts like this help a lot.”
Meanwhile a fifth person said: “Thank you. This is something I really struggle with!!!”
