Universal Studios Japan is opening its highly-anticipated Super Nintendo World next year.
On February 4, gamers will be able to enjoy the themed area in Osaka.
And ahead of the grand opening, pictures of the exciting park have been unveiled for the first time.
Super Nintendo World will be launching a Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge ride.
Guests will be in the driving seat of their own Mario Kart vehicle as they whiz around racecourses created by AR and projection mapping.
Thomas Geraghty, one of the people who thought-up the ride, told local media: “Guests will join their favourite characters immersed in augmented reality, steering their way through the Mushroom Kingdom, throwing shells at Koopalings, as they race to the finish.”
The high-tech fun doesn’t end there.
As guests make their way around Super Nintendo World, they can use real life “power-up bands” to interact with different activities.
Using an app to track different locations, they can compete with other tourists and collect coins to win prizes.
Each band is said to be inspired by different characters – including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Toad and Yoshi.
Another exciting areas of the park is Bowser’s Castle, which boasts its own grand staircase and statues of the popular characters.
And a third popular part of Super Nintendo World is bound to be the Yoshi’s Adventures ride.
The attraction, dedicated to the popular character, boasts spectacular views of the theme park as well as animatronic scenes.
Fans will also be able to purchase Mario-themed merchandise, including Luigi and Mario’s trademark hats and dungarees.
Gamers are bound to be excited that a launch date has been confirmed after months of delays.
Super Nintendo World was set to open ahead of this year’s Tokyo Olympics but it was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.
There were hopes it would be able to welcome guests this year but bosses have settled on February 4.
